My Goal

I hope to fly 60 different TYPE airplanes during the year after my 60th birthday to highlight a 37 year career in aviation and celebrate my birthday.   You can help me reach my goal and be a part of the celebration. (Due to #6, make that 60 different type AIRCRAFT!!  Maybe it will have to change later to "heavier than air flying machines"?!)

PS I'm in Ft. Worth, TX

If you have an airplane and would be willing to let me fly it, contact me

Photo Album

Pictures will be added as I fly them.  People who allow me to use their airplanes will be given credit here unless they prefer to remain annonymous.  N numbers will be obscured or changed if that is the case.  Each image will link to a page with the details of that flight and additional pictures if available.

I MADE IT!!!!!

Don't know if I'll count this one or not since I didn't get a takeoff and landing.  Thanks to Perris Valley Skydiving for allowing me to go along and do some of the flying on the descent.

#32 PA30B - N65SD 7-11-09

Went on the Spruce Creek "Gaggle" for breakfast.  Sal Devincenzo was kind enough to take me along in his Twin Commanche.  We practiced a little formation flying, practice emergency return, and a rescue flight.  Got a takeoff and landing.  Thanks Sal!!!

# 33 Pitts Model 12 N212KP

I enjoy them all, but this one was special.  Owner Keith Phillips was most kind to allow me to fly with him in his beautiful Pitts.  Awesome power to weight ratio and great handling (even on the ground, for a Pitts). Thanks Keith.

# 34 Cessna 337 N337RR

Thanks to Jim Frazee for the ride along on a maintenance flight.  FTW-PropWash-FTW

# 35 Grumman AA5 Tiger

KSBA-KIZA-KSBA

A very pleasant flight to Santa Ynez and back to Santa Barbara with Joel Sullivan in the Santa Barbara Flying Club's Tiger.  Joel wouldn't let me pay, so he bought a spot on my sponsorship page for the club.  Thanks Joel!!

# 36   Thorpedo T211 LSA  8-26-09  KRBD-KJWY-KRBD

Scott Severen, Director of Sales and Marketing took me on a flight in this fun and sporty little airplane.  See info on IndUS on the sponsor page

# 37 YAK52 N306GS 8-29-09

0T7-0T7-----Friend Ron Barson helped out today by flying with me in two of his airplanes.  This pretty YAK is a fun flyer and we managed to turn it upside down a little bit.

#38 S35 Bonanza N2JX 8-29-09

0T7-0T7-----Ron's well equiped Bonanza flies like a....well....a Bonanza.  Gutzy move Ron, with the single yoke and all.  He only squirmed a little.

# 39 Baron55 N95RD 8-31-09

Kapa-Kapa --- Thanks to Bruce Vogel of Tail Wind Aviation.  I enjoyed an afternoon visiting and flying with Bruce.  See the Sponsor page for contact information and look him up if you're in Denver.

See the Sponsor Page

# 41Columbia 400 N498RD 8-31-09

Kapa-Kapa  This is a beauty!!  Short flight, but it's a great performer, beautiful inside and out, and the Garmin 1000 package.  Call Bruce Vogel at Tail Wind Aviation in Denver to learn to fly this.  You'll love it!!  See the Sponsor Page for more info.

# 43 N4894E 9-23-09 Mike Plyler's Champ 7GC.  There should be more from Mike's fleet soon.  Thanks for the flight and thanks for all you do for the IAC and the National Aerobatic Championships.  See Sponsor's

# 44 N95373 9-23-09 Thanks again to Mike Plyler.  I'll add some special background on this one later.  See Sponsor page for info about Plyler Construction.

#45 N71RZ 9-24-09 Joe Stockhausen managed to sit through my front seat landing in his S2B.  Very nice airplane and....IT"S FOR SALE.  Only 300 hours on it.  Email Joe if you're interested.

# 46 N5174Y 9-25 KGYI-KGYI  Thanks to owner Colin Bailey for the flight and to Zach Heffley for taking me up in the 206. Besides flying with me, Zach won the 4-minute freestyle flight and finished 3rd overall at the National Aerobatic Championships.  Congratulations Zach.

#47 N23EX 9-25 KGYI-KGYI Tim Baker also managed to sit through my landing from the front seat of his beautiful Extra 300L.  Thanks Tim.  Always good to see you.

   # 48 N800MB KLUK-KLUK 9-29-09     A sit-around at Cincinnati's Lunken airport gave me a change to take a couple quick rides with instructor Eric Adams.  This one is the Beach Skipper, BE-77..

# 49 N6868D LKUK-KLUK 9-29-09  Eric Adams went with me in the Cherokee Six PA-32-300 also at Lunken.  These two planes belong to Flamingo Air, Inc.  Thanks to Eric who was on his way home when he got the call that I wanted to go fly.

#50 .N555HF KHUF-KHUF 10-02-09   Rented this Seminole, PA-44, at Terre Haute Air Center.  Special thanks to instructor Ryan Jones who donated his time to go with me.  Wish I could have given a ride in the CJ3 in return.

# 51 N4463C 10-5-09 XA68-KGYI-XA68 1.0 thanks to Tony and Julia Wood for the chance to fly their beautiful C195.  Day, night, dual, solo....Tony's a trusting sole!!

# 52 N4488M 10-16-09 KRBD-KRBD 0.5  Friend and fellow aerobatic competitor Bill Denton owns this georgeous Bonanza A36.  Thanks for the flight Bill.

# 53 N8145S 10-17-09 KSAT-KSAT 0.4  Friend Rick Thompson picked me up at KSAT, took me flying in his AeroStar, then loaned me his Boxter to drive to Uvalde to fly the next 5 airplanes.  It's great to have friends like Rick.  Thanks.

   # 54 Cessna T210 N48VA 10-17-09 KUVA-KUVA

Mark Huffstutler, CEO of Sierra Industries saw one of the articles about this and invited me to Uvalde to fly some of his airplanes.  He was true to his word and this was the fisrt of the day.  Nice airplane, but things get more interesting fast!

# 55 Waco YMF-5 N723SR 10-17-09 KUVA-KUVA  A nicely rebuilt WACO flies nice and wasn't as "bllind" as I had assumed.  Fairly docile as well.

#56.Siai Marchetti 1019E N250MH 10-17-09 KUVA-KUVA  Another quick flight but a very interesting airplane.  Basically a beefed up L19 with a turbine engine.  What a fun airplane!

# 57 Sierra Super II, N552FJ 10-17-09 KUVA-KUVA  This is a Citation II modified with Williams 44J-3A engines.  Since I'm qualified on both the Citation 500 series and the CJ3 (stock with the Williams engines) I can tell you this mod makes a great airplane.  Essentially CJ3 performance at half the price.  Very nice.  Drop me a note if you're intersted in more information.  See the "SPONSORS" page for information on Sierra Industries.

# 58 P51, N3333E 10-17-09 KUVA-KUVA 0.5

WOW

What else needs to be said?  The P51 has a sound, smell, and feel all it's own.  This is a beautiful airplane and I am honored that Mark took me on a fun flight and let me do enough to count it as one "flown" by me.  Only had stick and rudder in the back, but I did the takeoff and the landing just to touchdown, then he took it.  Nothing I could say could adequately thank him for the flight in this and the others, but, THANKS!!

# 59 Mooney Mite N4161 10-18-09 KGYI-KGYI  Friend Mike Plyler who also supplied #43 and #44 let me take the Mite around the pattern.  Fun litte airplane like most of his.  Mike is on a flying adventure even more ambitious than mine.  He's flying SOMETHING EVERY DAY.  So far he is over 1050 days in a row.  That takes some dedication!

See info about Plyler Congtruction

 #60 TaylorCraft L2 N47655 KGYI-KGYI 10-18-09

This is the one I was looking for!  Thank again to Mike Plyler (appropriately included in the picture) for his help reaching my goal!  Mike is obviously quite an aviation enthusiast and his company, Plyler Construction is included on my sponsors page

# 61`Enstrom Helicopter N221MP KGYI-KGYI 10-18-09  OK, I just couldn't stop at 60.  I'll fly as many more as I can before Nov 1, my birthday.  Mike Plyler again helped with this one.  Helped a lot with my attempts to fly it too!!

# 62 Grumman AA1-A N9472L 7TX4-52F-7TX4 10-20-09  This is one of my own that I finally got flying again.  Needed an annual and the brakes fixed.  Now I can use it with it's 160HP to get around in.  BTW, it's for sale!!!
